"Society is responsible for controlled chaos" This simple sentence speaks bounds for me. It also speaks the truth. If looked at from the right point of view, society can be a beautiful thing. Its sustainable, seemingly never ending and resourceful. But deep down, it is corrupted, much like Jack's "tribe" in Golding's Lord of the Flies. Society is something that most people need to "lean on" and have something real to support them, but in reality, its all a giant fly trap. It is also almost inescapable. When I think of society, I think of the movie "the Matrix". This movie is in man ways, an analogy to real life.
As Marcus Tullius Cicero once said:“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.” This quote speaks the great truth about society. I wonder if it is possible to create a better grouping of words to represent the flaws of society.
